What is Vakru?
Vakru is a collection of free browser-based tools for compressing, converting, cropping, resizing, and processing image and PDF files. Every operation runs entirely inside your browser — no file is ever sent to a server, stored anywhere, or seen by anyone other than you.
Why we built it
Most online file tools require you to upload your files to their servers. That means your documents, photos, and PDFs pass through infrastructure you have no visibility into — processed and sometimes retained. Modern browsers are capable enough to handle most file processing tasks locally, so we built Vakru to do exactly that.
How it works
Image tools use the browser's native Canvas API and browser-image-compression. PDF tools use pdf-lib and pdfjs-dist. All processing happens in your browser tab. When you close the page, everything is cleared. We never see your files.
Who it's for
Anyone who needs to compress a PDF for a government portal, resize an image for WhatsApp, convert a file format, or process documents quickly — without installing software, creating an account, or worrying about where their files end up.
Where we're headed
